The Asian-Pacific Islander (API) fraternity was founded in 2000 at SDSU and continues to establish charters throughout the southwest with aspirations to expand throughout the nation. The CSUSM chapter began as an interest group in 2006.

Alpha Psi Rho Gamma Chapter was finally established on California State University San Marcos in 2012. After 6 long years of being a student organization known as BAPS. As a student organization, we emulated the core values of the foundation of Alpha Psi Rho, which our name came from: Brotherhood Academics Prosperity and Strength (BAPS). Now as an official chapter on CSUSM campus we will continue to emulate these core values also taking into action our mission statement.
